Who We Are

An Organization Celebrating the Passion of Artistic Expression

Mountain Artists brings together creators exploring diverse mediums—from traditional painting and sculpture to digital art, photography, mixed media, woodworking, and beyond. Each artist brings a unique perspective, united by a passion for creativity and artistic expression.

Originally founded by Virginia Shippey as the Teller County Arts and Crafts Guild, the organization ultimately evolved into the Mountain Artists. The group, which is now celebrating its 40th anniversary, initially focused on bringing art education to Woodland Park schools.

Today, the Mountain Artists continue to nurture artistic talent in the community, with initiatives such as the annual Student Art Show, art classes in partnership with the City of Woodland Park, and the scholarship program for students pursuing education in the arts. But the organization also hosts a series of other events including the annual Mountain Arts Festival and a members holiday art show and sale.

If you have an interest in joining the organization, we invite you to join out monthly meeting and introduce your self. We meet at the Woodland Park Library on the second Saturday of each month.
